Earlier this year, MineARC Systems North America awarded the first MineARC Scholarship to a recipient from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. The scholarship funds were generated from a MineARC Refuge Chamber provided to the school. This refuge chamber has been used over the years for training students and preparing them for emergencies.

The 2017-2018 Scholarship was awarded to Sky Dragoo who has been active in Mine Rescue for two years and served as president last year. Under Sky’s leadership, the group has increased in numbers and has acquired six operating BG4 closed system self-contained breathing apparatuses, among other accomplishments.

The MineARC Scholarship program will run for the next 5 years to help students themselves and help the school acquire and maintain all necessary mine rescue equipment.

Congratulations to Sky!
