Disaster Relief Shelters and Crisis Management Solutions

StormSAFE Disaster Relief Shelters
StromSAFE Cyclone Shelters are engineered to withstand extreme weather conditions at remote locations such as mine sites.

At MineARC Systems, our disaster relief shelters have been developed through our knowledge and expertise in the manufacture of underground refuge chamber technology to produce a comprehensive range of shelters for above ground disaster relief and crisis applications. Our range of purpose-designed disaster relief shelters, including the StormSAFE Cyclone and Lightning Shelters, as well as the MediSAFE First Aid Station, are engineered to improve safety and reduce operational costs.

MineARC's StormSAFE Shelters versatile and adaptable design make them appropriate for use across a number of disaster relief applications, including oil and gas sites, rural communities, cattle stations, regional tourist destinations, or any location that experiences extreme weather conditions.

MineARC's in-house specialists work closely with clients to develop a custom solution to suit their needs, including compliance with specific building codes, occupancy requirements and internal features. We also offer modular design options to allow for easy disassembly and relocation.

StormSAFE Cyclone and Lightning Shelters

StormSAFE Cyclone and Lightning Shelters
StormSAFE disaster relief shelters can be designed to accommodate any size team comfortably with bedding, seating, kitchenette and toilet amenities.

Designed specifically for regional industrial sites that experience extreme weather conditions, the StormSAFE range of shelters have been engineered to withstand wind speeds in excess of 300km/hr. They are built to comply with designated building codes based on requirement; such as the Australian Building Code’s ‘Region D Rating’ for Tropical Cyclones and the NFPA 780 Standard for the Installation of Lightning Protection Systems.

The StormSAFE shelters can be designed to house any size team comfortably, offering bunk-style bedding, ample seating, kitchenette facilities and toilet amenities. Clever modular designs mean that space can be customised for any specification, particularly in regards to size, occupancy and internal features.

StormSAFE Cyclone and Lightning Shelters are a cost-effective option for remote industrial sites, allowing personnel to remain on-site to continue production. For sites experiencing regular extreme weather conditions, this minimises costly downtime and process disruptions significantly.

First Aid Stations for Remote Environments

MediSAFE First Aid Station
MediSAFE First Aid Station is a portable first aid chamber that can be used above or below ground.

MineARC's MediSAFE First Aid Station is the only dedicated portable first aid chamber that can be used both above and below ground. Designed for harsh environments and remote locations, the MediSAFE features a solid steel construction with insulated walls and air-conditioning for comfort.

The MediSAFE provides a hygienic and safe environment for immediate patient evaluation & treatment on-site. The chamber comes with a comprehensive fit-out tailored for first aid applications.

Wind Stability and Impact Resistance

StormSAFE wind flow simulation software testing.
Flow simulation software is used by MineARC engineers to accurately analyse the cyclonic winds flow path.

MineARC Engineers have utilised flow simulation software to accurately analyse the flow path of cyclonic wind from all directions acting on the StormSAFE. By determining the areas of positive and negative pressures caused by air passing over the geometry, our engineers were able to develop a chamber design that is both stable and self-weighting, whilst also remaining easily transportable.

FEA structural analyses have been conducted to determine the maximum deflection of the StormSAFE, ensuring the impact energy of flying debris will not allow the shell to yield. FEA software and manual tests by MineARC engineers have confirmed the StormSAFE displays deflections below a fraction of a millimetre and a stress impact well below yield across the chamber, proving compliance with the aforementioned aspects of AS1170.2.

Pressurised Airlocks for Sterile Working Environments

MineARC offers the option of a fully pressurised airlock compartment, designed to act as a secure staging area between the enclosed protection of the shelter interior and the outside environment.

MineARC airlocks are particularly useful as an add-on to the MediSAFE First Aid Station; featuring a positive pressure flushing system that ensures the outflow of air, preventing the ingress of contaminants into the sterile working environment while the door is open for entry.
